Brief description of this software product:
Arthur loves to read. When his school presents a Play Day for younger students, he and his friends volunteer to host the event. Arthur and his friends help and encourage the students as they visit the classrooms, school library, and playground, participating in a variety of fun learning activities. Activities include picking the right letter to fill in a puzzle, choosing letters that match the sounds that Alfie the Parrot makes, sorting toys according to the first letter of the name of each toy, building words with the Word-O-Matic, completing words in a Hangman-style game, filling in the blanks in sentences to create silly stories, a memory match game, and a spelling bee. Activities may be completed in any order, at any level of difficulty. Children are rewarded for successfully completing each activity, and earn points toward a personalized, printable trophy.

This 2-CD set teaches beginner and advanced reading skills, including letter recognition, phonics, spelling, listening and memory skills, word-picture matching, rhyming, vocabulary building, story building, and reading comprehension. Each CD contains 6 different activities with 3-5 levels of difficulty; some activities may be printed out for additional learning away from the computer.
