Description of technique for limiting kids' TV-time:
Friday night we review the Khutbah (sermon) we heard in the Mosque (Holy place for worship). Then we read related Surahs (like chapters) from the Koran. Then each person is assigned a method for relating the messege of that Khutbah to the family. Each member over the age of 10 does thier own work. Younger children are paired with grandparents or older family members. Must provide daleel.
Saturday night: Relate the morals learned from the Khutbah using Koran and Hadith resources. Give examples of how we can apply these morals to our daily lives.
Sunday night: Social manners and how to cultivate the Muslim Character in relation to Fridays Khutbah.
Monday night: What does the Shari'ah say about this topic?
Tuesday night: Relate a story of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) or one of his esteemed companians (RA) in relation to this topic.
Wednesday night: Back to the basics. God, predestination, Angels, Holy books, Prophets, Judgement day, and life after death. Best for the younger child paired with an elder.
Thursday night: Being mindful of our duties and obligations in relation to the topic.
Appropriate age group(s):
First cognative interest through the last day of life.
