Age group(s) for which this strategy is helpful:
Elementary School

Instructions for using this strategy:
At the school I work at we have a program to encourage reading. We have one night a month where we encourage families to come in and read. We offer free pizza for everyone. It encourages kids and adults to read.

What is the benefit to the child with reading problems?
I work with children that are LD and they seem to enjoy trying to read when their parents are involved. They thrive better when they have encouragement from their families. This reading is for fun, not for a grade.
